Mrs. Opal Daphna Ray of Crow, Texas died Friday, January 1, 2016 in Tyler at the age of 88. She was born Monday, October 31, 1927 in Redland to the late John W. and Elsie A. Jones Counts. She was a member of the Broad Street Church of Christ and a seamstress. She loved to sew, do oil paintings and was a great cook, wife and mother.
Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Sandi Ray and by a sister, Bonzie Holmes.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Robert S. Ray, Jr. of Crow; son Robert W. Ray of Crow; brother, Dan Counts of Dallas; sister, Emma Fortune of Henderson; three granddaughters, Stefanie A. Neville and her husband Jeremy of Lindale, Stacie A. Ray of Tyler and Stormie A. Perry and her husband J.P. of Tyler; four great- grandchildren, Landyn A. Neville, Kasen W. Neville, Makendyn A. Neville and Parker R. Perry and Several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the funeral home. The funeral will take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Broad Street Church of Christ with Mr. Steve Neville officiating. Burial will follow at Ray Cemetery in Crow.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kevin and Kyle Delafield Scholarship via Broad Street Church of Christ.
