Oral Reginald Bowman, age 96 of Mineola, Texas, died Sunday, October 30, 2011 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on Sunday, April 25, 1915 in Iredell, Texas to the late John and Ida Bowman. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a survivor of Pearl Harbor and the oldest surviving WWII Veteran in Wood County. He was a pastor for over 38 years having pastored at Trinity Baptist in Tyler and Plymouth Park in Irving, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, T.C. Bowman, A.L. Bowman and J. D. Bowman.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bowman of Mineola; two daughters, Debbie Nutt and husband Johnny of Mineola and Joyce Ejtminowicz of Irving; four grandchildren, Shanna Johnson and husband Bill, John Nutt and wife Heather, Adam Ejtminowicz and Eric Ejtminowicz; two great-grandchildren Caleb and Caden Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Mineola with Rev. Bruce Petterson and Dr. Mark Neeley officiating.
