Oreta Morris Anderson was born on January 5, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant, TX and was the youngest of six children. She passed away peacefully at home in Dallas, TX on September 15, 2026, with her family by her side. Oreta married Charles Richard Anderson in April 1955, and they moved to Dallas, TX. She worked for Mobile Oil and later retired from Bank of America.

She is survived by her two children, Michael Anderson and DeCarla Anderson, her two granddaughters, Joyella Zapata and her husband, Ruben, and DeLori Brittain; and three great-granddaughters, Natalie, Emily and Samanta; and several nieces and nephews.

Oreta was proceeded in death by Charles, her parents, Harvey & Sudie Barrett Morris, and her five siblings. As the last surviving member of her generation of siblings and first cousins, her passing marks the passing of the end of a chapter in the Morris-Barrett family. Her family takes comfort in knowing that those who went before her were there to welcome her home. She will be laid to rest beside Charles at Holly Tree Cemetery in East Texas.
