Patricia Joyce McDaniel, born December 9, 1932 to Robert Howard and Mollie
Elizabeth Owings, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026.
Born in Charleston, Illinois, Patricia decided early in life she would be called "Joyce", meaning joyous or merry. The name was a perfect fit, as she was always that happy and smiling, kind and outgoing personality.
At 8 years old, Joyce and her family moved to northern California. She attended Analy High School where she met her future husband, Donald Ray McDaniel.
Don and Joyce raised their 3 children in the San Diego area. When her children were old enough, Joyce entered the workforce. She started as a dispatcher for the local fire department. After moving to Texas, Joyce found as wonderful opportunity to join Asbury Fashion House as a sales consultant. She loved to travel to trade shows with Asbury, and was a great asset to their company, as she truly had never met a stranger.
Joyce finished her career with her dream job, as the receptionist for the Zig Ziglar Corporation. Zig himself took much pride in Joyce being the first voice everyone heard if they called the corporate office. Joyce won several awards for her excellent customer service, and her retirement party was bittersweet, but attended by all who loved her. She was always happy to hand out a "Roundtuit" to anyone who asked about Zig.
Joyce was also involved in teaching Sunday school, was a Chaplin, and always used her great sense of humor and fun nature to the great advantage of all who met her.
Her main focus was always her family. Being a gifted encourager, Joyce was always there to help her children in their endeavors and careers.
Joyce had a faith in Christ which was unwavering. Anyone who knew her could easily see that she was a beacon of light, and a testament to faith, love and self-sacrifice.
Joyce is survived by her children, Christine Lee Heermans (Thomas), Vicki Marcelle Shepherd (Gary); brother, Dr. Donald Marc McDaniel, and grandchildren Aaron Warren( Amber), Arik Warren(Angelique), Thomas Matthew Heermans(Alli), Stefanie Elizabeth Heermans(Matthew), Dr. Jerrod Heermans(Annie) and Andrew Heermans(Samantha). She was blessed with 9 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years as well as her parents, her brother Robert and her sister Sally.
Joyce's celebration of life will be held at Pilgrim Rest #2 in Alba, Texas on April 30, 2026 at 3 PM.
