Mr. Paul G. Carr, age 86, former resident of Winnsboro and Mt. Vernon, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the Texas Masonic Retirement Center in Arlington. Paul was born in Commerce, Texas on April 3, 1927 to the late Earl Walter and Reginald Marie McDowell Carr. He served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. He married the former Wanda Fuller in Mt. Vernon on June 2, 1946. He was a retired Dairyman, and a member of Pine Street Baptist Church in Winnsboro. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Gus Garrison Masonic Lodge in Winnsboro, and numerous other lodges during his 65 years as a mason. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elwyn Carr; and daughter-in-law, Barbra Carr. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Carr of Arlington; sons, Paul David Carr and wife Charlene of Pickton, Deryl Wayne Carr of Mt. Vernon, Donald Earl Carr of Mt. Vernon; daughters, Elaine Abston of Mesquite, Rita Long and husband Kevin of Mt. Vernon; brother, Gerald Carr and wife Patsy of Flint; sister, Mary C. Oakley of Vienna, VA.; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
