Peter Charles Walhof

November 17, 1939 — October 5, 2024

Peter Charles Walhof, affectionately known as Pete & Papa, peacefully closed his eyes and entered heaven on October 5, 2024. Born on November 17, 1939, in Artesia, California, to Charles and Annetta (Kooiman) Walhof, Pete lived a long and impactful life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

A proud graduate of LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, Pete earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, which laid the foundation for a remarkable career. He founded three successful companies—Longview Custom Fab, Custom Vessel Company, and Vessel Technology—serving as CEO and fostering innovation in Longview. Later, he joined Jacobs Engineering in Houston, Texas, before enjoying a well-deserved retirement.

In his later years, Pete settled in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to be closer to family, where he found joy in serving at the food pantry of Crossgate Church, a community he cherished as a devoted member. Having been raised by a single mother, he carried a deep compassion for others and was committed to helping those in need, particularly single mothers, embodying the spirit of service that he held dear.

An adventurer at heart, Pete loved to take long drives in his silver Ford Expedition, exploring the beautiful landscapes God created. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Annetta; his beloved wife, Joan Claudette Walhof; and his sister, Greta Gregory. He is survived by his daughter Tula Young and husband Rob; sons Reese Walhof and wife Cathy, and Michael Walhof and wife Whitney; his brother John Walhof and wife Lucy; brother-in-law Ken Gregory; and a host of grandchildren—Ashley, Payton, Julia, Sadie, Robyn (and husband Lance), Rachel (and husband Matthew), Randy (and

wife Kati), Lakeisha (and husband Ty)—as well as 7 great-grandchildren and one greatgrandchild on the way.

In lieu of flowers, Pete would have appreciated donations made to the Crossgate Church Food Pantry, continuing his legacy of kindness and service. Please make checks payable to Crossgate Church with “Food Pantry/Pete Walhof” in the memo line 3100 E. Grand Ave. Hot Springs, Ar. 71901.

He will be deeply missed by family and friends, but his spirit of generosity and love will forever resonate in their hearts. There will be a visitation at Crossgate Church, Hot Springs, AR on Thursday, October 10, 5:00pm -7:00pm. The family will gather at Roselawn Memorial Garden-Mineola, Texas, on Saturday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. for a small graveside service.
