Peter Charles Walters, 89, of Mineola, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, at the Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, with his beloved wife, Delores, and his devoted son, Paul, by his side.
Peter was born in Croydon, South London, on June 7, 1937, to Tom and Doris Collier. After his parents separated when he was quite young, his mother remarried, and Peter took on the Walters name. At 11 years old, the family embarked on a new chapter, moving to Australia. As a young man, Peter proudly served his country for six years in the Royal Australian Navy, a period of his life he remembered with great honor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Delores; his daughter, Christine; his son, Paul, and partner Corinne; his stepson, John Walters, and wife Gaye; and his stepdaughter, Jane Scott. He is also remembered by his former wife, Janet Walters, the mother of Christine and Paul. Peter leaves behind a rich legacy through his 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 step-granddaughters, 1 step grandson and 3 great-step-grandsons, as well as his extended family who welcomed him here in Texas more than 20 years ago.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, and his cherished grandsons, Peter Groves and Jett Vella.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. The family is forever grateful to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at this amazing facility for their incredible support over the eight days before his passing. The immense compassion and care they showed was a comfort not only to Peter, but also to Delores and Paul during a difficult time.
