Phoebe Latz

Phoebe Vanderbye Latz was born July 28, 1946 and went home to Heaven on June 7, 2024 four days shy of her 47th wedding anniversary to her husband Tom Latz.

Phoebe was beloved mother to her three children David (Laura) Eder, 56, James Eder, 53, and Christie (Andrew) Pudell , 45. She passed away at home with her husband and all three children near her.

She was born in Chicago in 1946 to Robert Beven Vanderbye and Phoebe Mae McKnight. As a little girl she loved trains and would count the cars with her dad and wave to the man in the caboose. Phoebe attended Fenger High School before going to work at Encyclopedia Britanica. Phoebe was active in Job’s Daughters Bethel #50 and participated in the drill team.

Phoebe was a proud mother who always ended a conversation by telling each one of her children they were secretly her favorite. She loved wine, chocolate, and lighthouses. Phoebe took special joy in traveling and going on cruises with her husband, daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter.

Phoebe was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brothers Robert and Raymond and is survived by her husband Thomas, her children, David, James, and Christie, her grandchildren Briane Dusoe, Derek Eder , Samantha Eder, Andrew Eder, Hope Pudell, and her nieces Cheri Vanderbye, Patti Haataja, and Katy Ernst who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
