Raymond Randolph "Randy" Beard, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 10, 2024, in his home at Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 26, 1938, in Plainview, Texas, to Earl R. Beard and Francis Lurana Lucas Beard.

Randy was a proud graduate of Highland Park High School and later pursued higher education at Southern Methodist University (SMU), where he distinguished himself as the president of his Kappa Alpha fraternity and met the love of his life Louise Beard. His commitment to service and leadership extended far beyond his academic years.

Throughout his life, Randy demonstrated unwavering dedication to the Kappa Alpha Order, serving in various capacities. He held prestigious positions such as president of the Mustang Alumni Chapter and Dallas Alumni Chapter, Registrar for the Mikell Court of Honor, and advisor to Beta Lambda Chapter. In recognition of his exceptional leadership and service, he was honored with the Knight Commander’s Accolade in 2009, the highest award an alumnus could receive.

Randy's professional journey was marked by resilience and achievement. After a successful career as a Manufactures Rep to AAFES, he transitioned to the role of Associate Director for Chapter Services with Kappa Alpha Order's National Administrative Office. Despite being non-traditional in age for the position, Randy excelled, leaving a lasting impact on countless chapters and members.

His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and Randy was an active member and Deacon at Holly Brook Baptist Church. He cherished his role within the church community and found solace and strength in his faith.

In his personal life, Randy was a devoted husband to Katie Louise Beard for over 60 years until her passing. Together, they raised a loving family and created cherished memories. He is survived by his son, Jacob Beard; daughter, Laurie Zieber; brother, Ron Beard; grandchildren, Keith Zieber and Randy Zieber, and their families, including great-grandchildren Bella, Austyn, and Dallas.

Randy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katie Louise Beard, and son-in-law, Dan Zieber. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and kindness that will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Randy's life will be held at Holly Brook Baptist Church, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation in Randy's honor. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and gratitude.
