Raymond " Ray" Smith

Ray Smith, 41, passed away May 30, 2021 in Houston Texas after battling renal failure.

Ray was born to Theresa Powell and Raymond (Cliffy) Smith in Tyler Texas on November 10, 1979. He grew up and attended school in Mineola Texas. He spent most of his life in Mineola before moving to Houston where he met his girlfriend Okey.

His interest include sports of all kinds but had a special interest in wrestling and baseball from a young age. His favorite team was the Houston Astros. He also enjoyed fishing and crabbing. He passed on his crabbing hobby to his nephew. He was all around a laid back person.

He is survived by his mother, Theresa Powell; step father, Cyrus Martin; sister, Desiree Benson (Cameron); 3 nephews, Hendrix, Seger, and Crue; multiple aunts and cousins and girlfriend, Okey Lemelle.

He is proceeded in death by his grandmothers, Billie Wicker and Clemie Martin; his grandfather Billy Powell; cousin, Joseph Berry.

A viewing will be held at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola on Saturday, June 5th from 5 to 7pm.
