Raymond L Williams

Ray was born on February 20, 1931 in Grand Saline, Texas to the late Cecil Earl Williams and Mary Joslin Williams. Ray graduated from Grand Saline High School and shortly thereafter went to work at A&P Grocery Store in Grand Saline. He began his banking career at 1st National Bank in Grand Saline. In 1962 he started working at Mineola Community Bank (formerly Mineola Federal Savings) and retired in 1995 as President, CEO and Chairman of the Board. He served as a director and later as Chairman Emeritus until his death.

Ray also served the community in many areas including past president of the Mineola Lions Club, Mineola Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Mineola City Cemetery and Housing Authority and many other local community groups. Ray served as a director for 24 years on the Meredith Foundation assisting fellow directors in countless projects benefiting Mineola. In 1986, Ray was named Mineola Man of the Year.

Ray has spent his entire life involved in music. He was an accomplished guitarist and pianist and performed numerous times with his wife Joanne and family members. Ray attended The First Church of the Nazarene for many years.

Ray is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joanne Williams; two sons, Joe and wife Chris, and Marty and wife Nannette. In addition, he is survived by five grandchildren, Jason Williams, Ryan Williams, Kacie Williams, Maria Williams, and Stephanie Williams; seven great grandchildren, MacKenzie Grantham, Madison Williams, Maecy Williams, Kase Williams, Kamryn Williams, Koley Williams and Caden Haugen. He was preceded in death by his father, C.E. Williams; mother Mary Williams, and brother, James Earl Williams.
