Richard Arlen Harper

February 23, 1935 — June 5, 2010

Mr. Richard "Dick" Arlen Harper, age 75 of Big Sandy, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Dallas. He was born on February 23, 1935 in San Antonio to the late Jack B., Sr. and Inez Arnold Harper. He graduated from Baylor University in 1953, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and retired from Gulf Industries as a project coordinator. He was a Christian, former member of the Bryan-College Station Elks Lodge, and the Nose Brotherhood at Baylor. He was married to Glenda Puckett on September 9, 1956 in Mississippi. He was preceded in death by two sons, John David Harper, Inf. Richard Harper, and a brother, Jack B. Harper, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Glenda Harper of Big Sandy; son, Arthur J. Harper and wife Lisa of Madisonville, La.; daughters, Belinda Harper Wright and husband Craig of Winnsboro, Richelle Harper Lingo and husband John of Quitman, Marcie Harper Henley and husband Stephen of Winnsboro; sisters, Barbara Lightfoot , Virginia Hooser, Pat Gochner, Mary Jackson; thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
