Richard P. Horn

Funeral Services for Mr. Richard Penson Horn, age 66, of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas are schedualed for 1:00 PM Wednesday at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel in Hawkins, TX.


Mr. Horn died Sunday, May 3 in a Tyler Hospital. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborn and was a retired police office for the city of Dallas. He was the former Chief of Police for the city of Ovilla, TX, served as a UN Peace Keeper in Bosnia, Herzegovina and in East Timor, and was currently working as security for the Federal Court House in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Horn was a graduate of Ashdown High School and Dallas Baptist University. He loved playing golf and spending time with family and friends and was a member of the Holly Lake Golf Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubry Lee and Frances Machen Horn, by one infant son, Richard P. Horn, Jr.; by one sister, Bettye Jo Hart and two brothers, Billy Dean Horn and Aubry Lee Horn.

Survivors include his daughter, Kristina Horn Ritchey and her husband Ron of Big Sandy; brothers, Robert Horn and his wife Cheryl of Ashdown, AR, Jim Horn and his wife Joyce of Camden, AR and John Ed Horn of Keller, TX; three grandchildren, Bryan, Justin and Samantha Ritchey and by his companion and best friend, Jimmie Lindsey of Holly Lake Ranch and several other nieces nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
