Richard Shattles

Mr. Richard Shattles of Hawkins, Texas passed away May 15, 2007 at the age of 63. He was born in Hattieburg, Mississippi. He has lived in the Hawkins area since 1992 having moved from Galveston, Texas. He retired from the Texas Department of Public Transportation after 27 years of service as a Ferry Boat Captain in Galveston. He was a member of the Crow Community Church. He enjoyed his motorcycle, training and raising dogs, his music collection, and spending time with his wife and family. He is preceded in death by one brother, Webster James Shattles and step-father, Cecil Sholar, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Darla Shattles of Hawkins, Texas; mother, Katherine Sholar of Hawkins, Texas; two brothers, Cecil Sholar, Jr. of Hawkins, Texas and Joel Walker of Mineola, Texas; nephew Bryan Sholar of Lindale, Texas; niece, Melissa Walker of Mineola, Texas; father-in-law, Kenneth Morrow of Mineola, Texas; brother-in-law, Edward Morrow of Mineola, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Jeana Winchester of Mineola, Texas, Kay Malone of Paris, Texas, and Lydia Cuellar of Mineola, Texas.
