Richard Wendall Thompson

Richard Thompson, 76, died Friday, November 18, 2011, in Tyler, Texas after a brief illness. He was born on Sunday, April 21, 1935, in Washburn, Maine to the late Kenneth and Margaret Thompson. He graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Agronomy. He spent the majority of his career working in Agricultural Chemical Sales for Union Carbide. He was a long time resident of Plano, Texas and most recently resided in Quitman, Texas. Mr. Thompson was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Loretta Thompson; an infant son, David Thompson; a sister, Joyce Corey and husband Harold; brothers, Kenneth and Donald Thompson.

He is survived by his second wife, Linda Thompson of Quitman; a daughter, Lisa Thompson of Little Elm, Texas; a brother, Paul Thompson; sister in law, JoAnn Thompson; grandchildren, Travis and Breanna Lowary; multiple nieces and nephews; and many friends. He will be missed by all.

Visitation for Mr. Thompson will be Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Service will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola.
