Robert Wayne Cummings, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on November 26, 1944, Bob spent his life embracing the great outdoors, with passions deeply rooted in hunting and fishing. He found tranquility in nature and cherished memorable moments spent with his wife and loyal dogs, often training Labradors for hunting excursions. A true adventurer at heart, Bob traveled extensively, allowing him to experience the beauty of the world, all while creating lasting memories with those he loved.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Bob served from December 9, 1968, to January 4, 1973, during which time he earned both the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. His commitment to service reflected his deep sense of duty and honor, qualities he carried with him throughout his life. After retiring from his career as a land surveyor, he embraced his love for fishing as a boat captain for the Franklin County High School Fishing Team. In 2009, Bob was awarded a state record certificate from Texas Parks and Wildlife for catching a massive largemouth bass while fly fishing, a testament to his skill and passion for the sport.
Bob's love for old country music was well-known, and he could often be found strumming his guitar and humming his favorite tunes, sharing his joy with family and friends. His appreciation for Western movies and literature shaped his adventurous spirit, and he often found inspiration in the rugged tales of the past. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Williams and husband, Jason; daughter, Susan Miles and husband Christopher; grandchildren, Kyle Williams and wife Alissa; Abby Williams, Hope Miles, Emma Williams, Garrett Miles, Ryli Williams, Cade and Josiah Miles; sister, Joanne Spencer; and nephews and niece, Barry James Spencer, Chris, and Teri Spencer, life long friend Eric Starnater, among many other loved ones.
