Robert Greer Richbourg, age 70, died Monday, October 1, 2012 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on Tuesday, April 21, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Robert Paul and Beatrice Crain Richbourg.
Robert attended school in Shreveport, Louisiana and Mineola, Texas. At age 17 he joined the United States Navy and was assigned to Carrier Air Group 15 making three deployments to the Western Pacific. Before being discharged in 1963, he married Barbara Lou Kilgore on Tuesday, October 23, 1962. He was baptized in 1964 by Pastor Dan Collum. Robert and Barbara lived in Mineola from 1963 till 1967 and he worked for the Texas Highway Department. In the latter part of 1967 they moved to Shreveport and he went to trade school under the G. I. Bill and joined the Carpenter's Union Local # 764. They returned to Mineola in 1972.
His first marriage ended with Barbara's death in 1997, but he was blessed to have her love and devotion for 34 years. After Barbara's death, he married the former Joyce Marie Bradley and was blessed a second time.
He was a Master Mason in Lodge # 403 in Shreveport and a member of V.F.W. Post # 7523.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Joyce Richbourg of Mineola; a son, Robert Michael Richbourg of Mineola; a step-son, Lynn Bradley, Jr. and wife Stacy of Montana; two daughters, Barbara Teague and husband Bobby of Mineola and Cindy Allen and husband Wade of Grand Saline, Texas; a step-daughter, Cindy Bradley and husband Sport Swoape of Golden, Texas; a sister, Linda Smith and husband Jerry of Shreveport; eight grandchildren, J.P. Allen and wife Laurie, Candice Allen, Matt Allen, Bradley Elam, Jerica Bradley, Austin Bradley, Adam Bradley, and Monica Richbourg; one great-grandchild, Lane Allen; a nephew, Aaron Smith; and numerous cousins.
Visitation for Mr. Richbourg will be held at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 6 - 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Fred Morrow officiating.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to American Heart Association.
