Robert Earl Rose-(Pickton, Texas), beloved man to many a family member and friend joined the faithful on September 5, 2023. He was born on May 17, 1929, in Pickton, Texas, to Edwin E. (Bud) Rose and Alma B. (Pugh) Rose. Mr. Rose graduated from Pickton High School in 1947 and continued his college studies while in the U.S. Air Force from 1947-1977. Robert was also a lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Pickton. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in August 1947. On September 18, 1947, the U.S. Air Force was established as a separate branch of service. Robert served for 30 years in the military (21 years active duty and 9 years in the reserves). He received an Honorable Discharge in August 1977. Mr. Rose from his years in the military lived in San Antonio, Texas, Tokyo, Japan, Biloxi, Miss., Mobile, Ala., Hawaii, and Vietnam. Robert for a time also made Winnsboro his home. He married Helen Ann Ashton on October 22, 1949, in Athens, Texas, and remained married until her passing in November 2004. On April 1, 2006, in Pickton, Texas, Robert married Alice Ann (Bryant) Bain. The two of them had been grade-school and lifelong friends. After the death of their spouses, they found their friendship blossom into a loving relationship until Ann’s passing in November 2020. In addition to being an electronics technician in the military, Robert was a farmer and once owned a furniture store and appliance store in Winnsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Helen and Ann; son Jerry Rose; brother Carl Wayne Rose; sister-in-law Bonnie Rose and daughter-in-law Kathy Sharrai Rose. Mr. Rose is survived by his daughter Nancy Welenski and husband Stan of Mesquite; son Thomas Rose and wife Elaine of Plano; brother Troy Rose; brother Gene Rose and wife Joy; sister Faye Holcomb; sister-in-law Kay Rose; grandkids Pete Rose along with his children, Ben, Joe, Michael, and Molly; Richard Rose and Tish with their children, Jaxsen, Koltyn, Leelynn, and Morrisen; Marshall Rose and Mandi with their children, Presley and Lawson; Janice Gill and Dyke with their son, Dominic; and Marc Rose and Laura with their children Caleb and Karis. Robert is also survived by Ann’s children Keith Bain and wife Edith, Ricky Lynn Bain, and Leeta Louise Mattison and husband Glenn. Ann’s grandchildren Eva Williamson and husband Keith, Brian Bain and wife Moressa, Brandon Bain and wife Karmon, Brittney Smith and husband Anthony, Maci Tucker and husband Brannon, Matthew Mattison and wife Jamie, Maggi Devoto and husband Tony, Leslie Fowler and husband Kase, Joshua Paul Bain and wife Kay, Brittany Hand and husband Aaron; great-grandchildren Ragan Rutherford, Briana McFatridge and husband Dustin, Kendall Morris and husband Josh, Kendall Bain and husband Jordan, Collins Hayley, Chandler Bain, Jack Bain, Saylor and Mercy Smith, Noah and Anna Claire Newsom, Keaton Tucker, Sophie, Stella, and Sarah Devoto, Rashay and Keegan Fowler, Grant and Caden Paul Bain, Ava and Aiden Paul Hand; three great-grandchildren Kaden, Stetson, and Truman. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9th at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pickton with the funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Mike Houn and Dr. David Rose officiating.
