Robert Dean Steele was born July 9, 1952 and died Saturday October 12, 2019 in Tyler Tx. Mr. Steele was a 43 year veteran of law enforcement who retired as Captain with the Everman Police Department. He was born in Omak, Washington and attended grade school in Moses Lake Washington. In middle school he moved with his family to Southern California where he graduated from North High School in 1970. He played drums in a Rock ‘n Roll Band that backed up Dick Dale (King of the Surf Guitar) before relocating to Texas where he began his law enforcement career and finished his education at Texas Christian University. Bob was a quiet, seemingly mild-mannered man with a wicked sense of humor and rapier wit. He was a dedicated Texas Rangers fan, and a reader of war histories, mysteries and biographies of great leaders. He loved his work and his co-workers. He is survived by his sisters Karen Steele and Pamela Dountas Brother-in-law Chip Whitten of Houston and Sister-in-law Donna Woods of Denver, along with many friends and co-workers. His “other” family was the police and first responders he worked with over the years. He was preceded in death by wife Suzie B. Steele, and his parents Richard and Colleen Steele. A memorial service will be held at Everman United Methodists Church, 530 Townley Dr., Everman, Texas 76140 11 a.m. Saturday morning October 19, 2019. All are invited. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to APET- SPCA 657 county road 2840, Mineola, Tx 75773.
