Robert Allen Turnbo Sr, age 79 of Crosby, passed away on Friday, June 7th, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Robert "Bobby" was born on September 6th, 1944 to the late Frank and Velma Zapalac. Bobby served in the US Army from 1967-1969 as a 1st Class Gunner in the 199th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam. Bobby retired after decades as an electrician and spent his recent years serving at the Crosby American Legion. He loved spending time with family, fishing with a cold beer in hand, and could recite from memory details about every US military weapon or aircraft. Preceding him in death were his wife Brenda, parents Frank and Velma, daughter RaLyn, son Robert Jr., and brother Clyde. He is survived by his children, Steven Rice and wife Lisa of Mont Belvieu, Kevin Rice of Austin, Brian Rice and wife Candace of Huffman, Jason Turnbo and wife Emily of Houston; grandchildren, Shawna, Ella, Ashley, October, Chris, Kaitlin, Taryn, Nick, Kristy, Brian Jr., Brent, Cason, Brenlee, and Tucker; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Addison, Kinsley, Reed, Lane, Easton, and Wyatt; siblings Angie and Eva, and other family and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Sterling-White Funeral Home in Higlands, Tx. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Little Hope Baptist Church, with interment immediately following at Little Hope Cemetery in Wood County.
