Roger Lagrand Bland

Mr. Roger Lagrand Bland, age 93 of Winnsboro, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Mt. Pleasant. Roger was born in Winnsboro on September 23, 1920 to the late Worthy Lagrand and Edna Earl Barton Bland. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a retired Tool Pusher for Renshaw Well Service. He was of the Baptist Faith, and a member of the American Legion Post # 340 in Winnsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Estes and Conley Bland; sister, Mary Jo Smith; and two great-granddaughters, Lindsey and Kendra Matheson. He married Margaret Laminack Bland on August 15, 1946 in Wills Point, she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Conley Bland and wife Shirley of Winnsboro, Jimmy Bland and wife Cassandra of Winnsboro; daughters, Linda Burns and husband Walter of Winnsboro, Cynthia Flournoy and husband Gerald of Winnsboro; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
