Ronald Nixon Miranda of Winnsboro, TX passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, his 84th birthday, in Lindale, Texas. Born on October 15, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, Ron was the son of Robert and Marian Miranda.
A proud veteran, Ron served in the Air Force Reserve, exemplifying dedication and commitment to his country. He enjoyed a successful career in sales and was the former co-owner, with his brother, Bob, of ABCO Beauty Supply in Tyler, Texas.
Ron was a member of Shriners International and took great joy in his involvement with the Winnsboro Hawks Gun Club, where he served as secretary and as an assistant gun safety instructor. He was passionate about shooting and fishing. He loved animals, especially his dog Snickers. Ron enjoyed watching old movies, like the Pink Panther with Peter Sellers, and the James Bond Series when not watching college football. A lover of big band music, Ron was an excellent dancer and was also famous for his playful spirit, often bestowing unique nicknames on those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Denise Youngson Miranda, who he affectionately referred to as Birdy. They were married on October 11, 1981. Ron is also survived by his sons, Jack Miranda of Spring Hill, TN, and Roger Miranda of Plano, TX; stepson Patrick John and wife Sarah of Columbus, OH; brother Bob Miranda and wife Lori of Holland, MI; brothers-in-law, Bill Youngson and wife Jane of Piperton, TN and Ron White of San Antonio, TX. He leaves behind a cherished family of nine grandchildren: Melissa Mathews and husband Dustin, Rebecca Bassett and husband Phillip, Rachael John, Jessica Taylor and husband Trip, Jordan John, Mack John, Hunter John and wife Sierra, Davis Kurz, and MaryGrace Kurz. Ron also adored his six great-grandchildren: Aria Matthews, Emmett Bassett, Sutton Bassett, Finn Taylor, Louie Taylor, and Jacob John as well as his many nieces, nephews and great nieces. Ron was preceded in death by his son, Bradley Miranda, and his sister, Connie White.
The family is grateful for the care Ron received from all his caregivers at Lindale Specialty Care in Lindale, TX and especially his favorite caretaker, Gloria Woolsey, who provided his home care in addition to his care at the skilled nursing facility in Lindale.
In honor of Ron's memory, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Friends of Winnsboro Animal Shelter, two causes that were dear to his heart.
Ronald Nixon Miranda will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, joy and the laughter he brought to the lives of those who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial service for Ron will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 2 pm at the Beaty Funeral Home 816 W Broadway Winnsboro, TX 75494.
