Ruby Mae Sherwin known to her family and friends as “Jackie” was born July 10, 1917, in Maud, Oklahoma to E.C. and Joyce Eidson and passed from this life eternity February 24, 2014 in Mineola, TX.
On September 6, 1936 she married Truman Carroll (T.J) Sherwin in Maud, OK. In 1937 they moved to the Ponca City area where they made their home for fifty-three years. In 1991 Jackie moved to Las Vegas, NV to live with her daughter Jan and son-in- law Ray. In 1995 they moved to Holly Lake Ranch, TX where she lived until entering the Community Care Center of Mineola, TX in 2012.
Jackie achieved many things in her life. First and foremost she was a wife and mother. She instilled in her children a deep faith of God while they were young and played an influential part in leading her husband to the Lord. She was a wonderful Sunday school teacher and a helper to the helpless. Often she went out of her way to help sick and needy people in the community.
Jackie was a licensed real estate agent along with T.J. as they operated Sherwin Construction Company and Real Estate Agency and was a member of the Ponca City Board of Realtors.
Additionally, Jackie was a licensed pilot, a seamstress, an accomplished cook, an avid reader, a skilled wood carver and an accomplished artist, competing in many art shows. She was active in politics, and past chairman of the Republican Committee of Osage County, Oklahoma. Jackie was a musician, playing the piano and singing in the church choir. As such she gave each of her children an appreciation of music at an early age. We are grateful for such a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed!
