Ruth Owens

Mrs. Owens died June 5, 2009, in Tyler. She was born June 9, 1919 in Providence to the late Ezra and Jewel Kelley Short, and was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church for over 50 years in which she served in all aspects possible. She is preceded in death by her loving parents and her husband Gaston M. Owens. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mary Mize Owens and Inagene Owens Smith; one aunt, Faye Kelley and her family; several nieces and nephews, Gene M. Smith, Phillip P. Smith, Stephen L. Smith, Bill Owens, James Owens, Christian Reagan, Edwin Owens, Linda Smith Bullard, Judy Owens, Mary Owens Becker; extended family, Billie Frances Caffey and children, Lanny, Fran, Debbie and their families.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, June 8, 2009 at New Hope Cemetery in Mineola. A celebration of her life will be held after the graveside 11:00 AM Monday at the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church also in Mineola.

Visitation will be held Sunday night from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
