It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Sandra Kay Scott Fulgham passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, in Grand Saline, Texas at the age of 81.
Sandra was born on December 28, 1944, in Abilene, Texas, to Bertrand Jack Scott and Roxie Ussery Scott. She was a beautiful, intelligent, caring and compassionate woman who loved people deeply and was loved by many both in the US and abroad. Known for her sharp wit and enduring sense of humor, she leaves us with countless happy memories full of laughter.
The First Baptist Church of Mineola played an important role in Sandra's life. As a child, she enjoyed Sunday School, Training Union, Vacation Bible School and the Baptist Summer Camp. She expressed her faith in Christ by joining the church through baptism.
Sandra attended the Mineola school system from the first grade through high school, graduating in 1963. She maintained close relationships with many friends whom she met initially in the first grade. She played tennis in high school and was the women's singles district champion in 1962.
On August 14, 1965, Sandra married the love of her life, Bill Fulgham. Together they built a life of love and gratitude. Their son, Michael Fulgham, was born May 13, 1967. Michael added immeasurably to their happiness. As a family they moved often with Sandra invariably creating a home filled with warmth and love.
At the age of 38, Sandra went to college as a non-traditional student. She again excelled on the tennis team and played women's singles at the Junior College National Finals.
In high school, she was editor of the school newspaper, the Jacket Buzz. Therefore, it was natural for her to major in Journalism in college. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Sandra was a successful realtor in the Denver, Colorado market for several years.
After retiring, she rejoined the First Baptist Church in Mineola and worked on several committees and with the senior members of the church through the Triple L (Live Longer & Love it) Fellowship.
She was active in the community and was secretary of the New Hope Cemetery Association for many years.
Sandra was preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Ronnie Scott, and son Michael Fulgham. She is survived by her husband, Bill, daughter-in-law, Adriana Fulgham; sister-in-law, Judy Bechtold (Ken); grandchildren, Laynee Jackson (Cameron), Nicholas Fulgham, and Montse Fulgham, great-grandchildren Aiden and Theodore Jackson; and 5 nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 10:00AM on Saturday in the New Hope Cemetery with Dr. Mark Neeley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Mineola Building Fund (204 North Johnson Street, Mineola, Tx 75773) or the New Hope Cemetery Permanent Care Fund (% Darlene Haggerton, President, 1152 FM 1804, Mineola, Tx 75773).
