Mrs. Jack "Liz" Gardner, age 74, of Scroggins, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Liz was born June 22,1932 in Muleshoe, Texas, the daughter of Harrison "Pop" and Altha (Ulmer) Robertson. She attended school in Sabine and graduated from Sabine High School in 1950. She then went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1964. On July 26, 1952 she was united in marriage to Jack W. Gardner in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Jack was a Baptist pastor to many churches through the years and could not have done so without the great help and support of Liz. She was very proud and honored to be a mother and a pastor's wife. She was also an elementary school teacher, teaching children in places like Shawnee, OK; Elkart, KS; West, TX; Paonia, CO; and the Wind River Indian Reservation near Lander, WY; before retiring in 1985. Most recently she was a member of the Macon Baptist Church, where she was active in the Women's Mission Union.
Her parents and a brother, Kenneth Robertson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 54 years, Rev. Jack Gardner of Scroggins; two sons, Gary Gardner of Scroggins and Greg Gardner and his wife Christi of Sand Springs, OK; one daughter, Glenda Chartier and her husband Dennis of Ft. Worth; seven grandchildren, Valerie Payne, Timothy Payne, Mike Gardner, Sarah Gardner, Mickey Gardner, Jimmie Gardner, and Tommy Gardner; one great granddaughter, Madison Gardner; one sister-in-law, Betty Jo Robertson of Liberty City; the Chartier family; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
