Sherrie Louise Blaylock

Sherrie L. Blaylock, age 60, passed from this life on Monday, July 13, 2020 at her home. Sherrie suffered a lengthy illness with dignity and grace. She passed from this world surrounded by those she loved most. Sherrie was born in Yakima, Washington, on October 17, 1959, to her father Alonzo Alvin Bennett and mother Bessie Lea Bennett. She earned an Associates degree from Trinity Valley Community College, and Bachelors degree and Masters degree from East Texas State University. For most of her life, Sherrie worked in social service roles as a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. During her career she served and protected the most vulnerable members of our society. Although challenging, this admirable work was indicative of her caring spirit and the pride she took in making the world a better place. Sherrie was preceded in death by her mother Bessie and sister Melinda. Sherrie is survived by her husband, Jerry, brother, Mark Bennett and sister Ramona Reeves. Sherrie is survived by her children, Scottie Samford and wife, Britney; Jennifer Kelley and husband, Francis; Carey Samford and wife, Bonnie; Jerry Blaylock, Jr. and wife, Leia; Sarah Jenkins and husband, Ben; and Steven Blaylock and wife, Stacy. She is also survived by brother-in-law, David Blaylock, Sr. and sisters-in-law, Ann Robinson, Pam Morrow, and Shirley Johnson, whom she considered as her own siblings. Her legacy includes 13 grandchildren, Cheyenne, Emmalee, Isaac, Aubrie, Ayden, Ryan, Kylie, Sybil, Gavin, Connor, Emma, Isaac, and Evan who will be joining us soon. Finally she is survived by her loving dog and companion Sadie. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Sand Springs Baptist Church 3208 CR 2330 Mineola, Texas 75773 at 1:00 pm, Rev. Jim Parker conducting, interment will follow at Turner Cemetery in Mineola, with Scottie Samford, Carey Samford, Jerry Blaylock, Jr., Steven Blaylock, Frances Kelley, and Ben Jenkins serving as pallbearers.
