SSG. Chauncy Ryan Mays was killed in action (KIA) on February 28, 2011 in Tangy, Afghanistan. SSG Chauncy Mays was born on December 7, 1985 to Mr. Tommy Pierce Mays and Alyson Dawn Rodgers. He was a 2004 graduate of Chapel Hill High School in Titus County. SSG Chauncy Mays entered the U.S. Army on June 17, 2004. He served in the 705th Ordnance Company, 184th EOD Battalion, Fort Polk, LA, where he served as the EOD Team Leader. SSG Chauncy Ryan Mays is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kathy Mays; two daughters, Kiley Mays and Chesnee Mays; brother, Cheyenne Mays; sisters, Amanda Tenbrook, Stephanie Ray and Nikki Ray; father, Tommy Mays; mother, Alyson Dawn Rodgers; grandparents, Jerry and Debbie Mays, B.J. and Thelma Boyd, Fred and Tina Overman, MawMaw Wanda, and Barbara Cook; great grandparents, Fred and Mavis Overman; mother and father-in-law, Russell and Rhonda Carpenter; numerous aunts and uncles. Services are scheduled for Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Lake Fork Baptist Church, 9483 W. FM 515 Alba, TX 75410-2687. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Beaty Funeral Home Of Winnsboro. Interment will be at Harmony Cemetery in Hopkins County.
