Thomas L. Fisher

Thomas Leon Fisher, 101, of Temple, Texas, passed away on August 24, 2015.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 am August 28, 2015 at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. Rev. James Wheat will be officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 pm on August 27, 2015 at Beaty Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral at Harris Chapel Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Beaty Funeral Home.

Mr. Fisher was born in Smith County on September 21, 1913. He farmed with his family throughout the depression. In 1943 he joined the U.S. Army. He served gladly in Iran as longshoreman and later as an electrician in France.

He married Vera Mae Gee on August 24, 1940. They were married fifty eight years when she preceded him in death on December 6, 1998.

Mr. Fisher worked as a truck driver for B & L Trucking for a number of years in Pampa, Texas until retiring in 1978. After retiring, he and Vera moved to Mineola. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, ranching, gardening and some of the best cooking in Wood County. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Mineola. His trust in Christ was all so evident when living his daily life.

He is survived by his son, Thomas Frank and wife Patti of Waco; two grandsons, Sean Israel and wife Katie of Pacific Grove, California, Daniel Kaleb and wife Kirby Faith of San Antonio; two beautiful great granddaughters, Ada Camille Fisher of Pacific Grove and Olivia Jane Fisher of San Antonio, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fisher is preceded in death by brothers, Virgil Fisher and Gordon Fisher and sisters, Lottie Boykin, Frankie Bell Fisher and Annie Ruth Humphreys.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Mental Health Grace Alliance of Waco, Texas.
