Thomas "Mike" Hazelwood

Thomas Michael Hazelwood, known affectionately to family and friends as Mike, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 79.

Born on April 30, 1946, in Terrell, Texas, Mike lived a life marked by service, dedication, and quiet strength. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he earned several military decorations, including the Purple Heart Medal, in recognition of his bravery and sacrifice.

Following his military service, Mike spent many years as a long-haul truck driver, a profession that suited his independent spirit and strong work ethic. He took pride in his work and the many miles he traveled across the country, forming friendships and collecting stories along the way.

On May 15, 2015, Mike married Rebecca Murphey. Their marriage was one of deep companionship and love, lasting over a decade until his passing.

Mike will be remembered for his resilience, his unwavering loyalty, and his quiet, steady presence. He leaves behind a legacy of service, hard work, and love that will be cherished by those who knew him.
