Thomas Samuel West passed away at his home in Mineola on Friday, April 11, 2025. He was born March 7, 1982, in Tyler, Texas to Scott and Sara Jane (Scoggins) West. Eventually, his siblings Lee, Xan, and Alayna would arrive. Thomas would become a big brother and a leader of this fun bunch of four. At school and home, his sweet nature and steadfast loyalty garnered much affection and many friends. His quick wit, humor, and endearing grin won over many classmates and teachers. At Mineola High School he was in automotive technology, mock trial and UIL, FFA and Act 1 & Co., as a second-generation member. He was a gifted performer in plays and emceeing pep rallies. He graduated from MHS in the remarkable and close class of 2000.
As an adult, friends found him trustworthy and lovable. Being in his inner circle was an honor. He worked at Robinson’s Furniture and was active in the Lake Country Playhouse with his grandfather J.D. West. His favorite role was being “Uncle T” to Josh, Bridgette, Camden, Axel, Aron, and Annabel. Thomas gave of himself and much time to these six who were dear to him. Having grown up in a loving, Christian extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, he continued that legacy with another generation.
His first accomplishment was making a young couple parents and his life and character will continue to impact those who love him. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Thomas will be missed by his parents, his siblings, his extended family, and friends. Because Thomas loved Jesus, those who love him look forward to a sweet reunion one day. He lived his life with strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Faith Victoria West; his grandparents, J.D. and Barbara West; and his uncle, Scott Elsey. His survivors include his beloved father and mother, Scott and Sara West; his brother Lee West; his sisters and brothers in law, Xan and Brandon Roberts and Alayna and Abel Palacios; his nephews, Josh West, Camden Roberts, Axel Roberts, and Aron Palacios; his nieces Bridgette West and Annabel Palacios; his grandparents Jerry and Beth Scoggins; his aunts Cydney Elsey and Melody Roberts; his aunt and uncle, Amy and Matt Reese; and many cousins whom he loved.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 19 at Beaty Funeral Home. Officiants will be Bro. Cody Mize and Bro. Michael Mize. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. before the service.
To honor Thomas, his family will be wearing Dallas Cowboy apparel and colors. They invite his friends to do so, also.
