Toby Joe Jones

Toby Joe Jones, cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on August 1, 1948, in Winnsboro, Texas, he was the son of Fred Barton Woods and Jewel Joy Jones. Joe was a proud veteran who served in the Army during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country.

After his military service, Joe built a fulfilling career as a land surveyor, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Pittsburg, Texas, where he connected with fellow veterans and contributed to his community.

Joe had a deep passion for the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and gardening, taking immense joy in nurturing plants and sharing his bountiful harvests at the Winnsboro Farmer's Market every Saturday. His family and friends fondly remember his delightful presence during gatherings and outings, where his laughter and stories brought warmth to their hearts.

He is survived by his two beloved daughters, Sara Pressley and her husband Jonathan of Winnsboro, and Lori Fondren and her husband Tuffy of Winnsboro. Toby also leaves behind his step-sons, Eric Berkenkamp of Hawkins, and Sean Berkenkamp and his wife Dawn of Lemoore, California. He is survived by his brother, Fred Barton Woods of Florence, Texas and half brother, Sylvester Austin Reed of Compton, California, as well as ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Susan Jones, who remains forever in his heart. He will be remembered for his loving spirit, dedication to family, and the countless lives he touched.
