Travis Carmen Irby

Mr. Travis C. Irby. age 93 of Pickton, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. He was born in Hopkins County on June 19, 1918 to the late Prentis and Josephine Jane Nichols Irby. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a retired dairy farmer, and member of Walnut Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Naomi Wilson Irby in 2008; son, Durwood Irby; grandson, Steven Harrell; brothers, Ray Irby, J.B. Irby, Buck Irby; and son-in-law, George Romine. He is survived by son, Jerry Irby and wife Paula of Pickton; daughter, Jo Ann Romine of Winnsboro; daughter-in-law, Yuvonne Irby of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Donna Adams, Karen Duitch, Brandie Oxford; eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Beaty Funeral Home of Winnsboro, with Bro. Mel Mellenberger officiating, visitation will start 1hr prior to the service at 1:00 P.M. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
