Vard Everette Hooten

Vard Everett "Ed" Hooten Jr. of Mineola, TX. passed away on Monday January 25, 2021 in Quitman, TX. He was born on September 17, 1939 in Cedarville, AR to the late Vard Everett Hooten Sr. and Vesta May Hooten. Mr. Hooten was a member of the American Legion Post #296 and the Mineola Marine Corp League where he served as Judge Advocate and also as 2nd Vice Commandant. Mr. Hooten also volunteered with the Marines Toys for Tots Foundation. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and yard sales. Mr. Hooten was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Dale Hooten; brother, Alvis Hooten. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hooten; two sons, Gregory Hooten and David Hooten both of Hot Springs, AR; two step sons, Victor Cram and wife Heather of Bennett, CO and Jason Cram of Scottsdale, AZ; four brothers, Kenneth Hooten and wife Dee of Tucson, AZ, David Hooten and wife Pat of Rowlett, TX, Ralph Hooten and wife Patty of Mineola, TX and Phillip Hooten and wife Sammie of Ft. Worth, TX; three sisters, Dean Thompson of Little Rock, AR, Sharon Odle of Knox, IN and Laura Garrett and husband Larry of Cleburne, TX; five grandchildren; five great grand children. Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola, TX with Chaplain Wayne Bare officiating. In lieu of flowers family has requested donations can be made to the Mineola Marine Corp. League Post #296 or the Mineola American Legion Post #296 at www.mineolamcl.com.
