Vela Lorene Nolen, age 85 of Yantis passed away Monday, June 4, 2007. She was born to the late Paul P. and Bessie Strasner Braden on Novemeber 19, 1921 in Hopkins County. She married Mr. James Nolen on July 3, 1946 at the Forrest Ave. Baptist Church in Dallas. She was a secretary and member at the First Baptist Church of Yantis. She was also a member of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, Boy Scouts of America, and Women's International Bowling Congress. She served eight years as precinct judge for the Wood County Democratic Party. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James on April 7, 1990; brothers, R.D., Wilburn, Travis, and C.A. Braden; two sisters, Mary Smith, and Auddie Walley; and a great-grandchild, Erica Nolen. She is survived by sons and daughter-in-laws, James and Judith Nolen of North Little Rock, Marshall and Mary Nolen of Yantis; brothers Marshall Braden of Houston, Kenneth Braden of West Minster, Co.; sister, Alma Ellison of Winnsboro; four grandchildren, Nicole Davis, Jonathan W. Nolen, James A. Nolen, Joshua B. Nolen; great-grandchildren, Massey, Austin and Gracie Davis, Colby Nolen, J.C. Nolen, Brandon Nolen, Reagan Nolen, Layne Nolen, Madison Nolen, and Tristyn Nolen.
