Virgil Gayle Alston

Mr. Virgil Gayle Alston, age 75 of Winnsboro, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 in Winnsboro. He was born on December 4, 1936 in Sweetwater, Tex. to the late Henry C. and Sarah Inez Harrell Alston. He was retired from Western Electric after more than 30 years of loyal service, and a member of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Wayne Alston. He is survived by his son, Russell Alston and wife Kathleen of Winnsboro, Tex.; a daughter, Vicki Parr and husband Ron of Plano, Tex.; a brother, Jackie Alston and wife Phyllis of Kerrville, Tex.; and four grandchildren, Chace Iglecias, Rachel Parr Fears, Ryan Parr, and Tanner Alston.

Virgil graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1956, where he was a star player and captain of the basketball team. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors, especially gardening.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Beaty Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
