Virginia Ruth Gafford, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and cherished friend, was born on May 16, 1931, in the heart of Franklin County, Texas. She was the youngest of ten children in the loving home of Lela S. Reeves and William M. Gafford, growing up amidst the rich traditions of the small community of Prairie Grove.
Virginia's journey took her from Franklin County, through the landscapes of Titus and Hopkins Counties, and ultimately to Dallas in 1944, where she spent the next 48 years of her life working diligently across eight companies, many of which changed hands, yet she showed her resilience and adaptability. She retired in 1991, returning to the peace of Wood County, where she continued to create a warm and welcoming home.
Known for her vivacious spirit and deep love for family, Virginia was especially fond of her nieces and nephews, each of whom she held dearly in her heart. Her family was her greatest treasure, and her connections, both close and distant, were woven with love.
Virginia's favorite scripture, John 14:1-3, reflected her unwavering faith and belief in a greater purpose, offering comfort not only to herself but also to those who crossed her path. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Virginia Ruth Gafford peacefully passed on October 14, 2026, at the age of 95, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.
A graveside service to celebrate Virginia's remarkable life will take place on October 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Lee Cemetery, located at 996 County Rd 4700, Winnsboro, TX 75494. Friends, family, and all whose lives she touched are warmly invited to join in this celebration of her life, where we will honor her memory and the love she shared so generously.
