Ginger Hudson, age 72, of Mineola, Texas, died Friday, January 18, 2013 in Tyler, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born Virginia Andrea Dean on Saturday, August 31, 1940 in the front room of her family home at 400 W. Patton Street in Mineola. She attended Mineola High School (Class of 1958), where she was a Homecoming Princess and Miss MHS during her senior year. After graduation she attended Draughon Business College in Dallas, Texas to pursue a career in banking. She married her childhood sweetheart, Stanley Hudson on Saturday, November 29, 1958.
She started her career as an Army wife in 1960 which led to may moves overseas with her husband and children during the next 12 years, then returning to Mineola to raise her children while Stan was a train engineer for 8 years. In 1980 she continued her career as an Army wife following Stan on many more adventures until their retirement in 1992, which earned her an award from the Department of the Army for being a true Army wife. Their retirement led them back to their hometown of Mineola where they took on their new life as grandparents. Ginger always had a love of music, flower gardening, bird watching and especially cooking. She also loved to read mysteries, do crossword puzzles, and have family gatherings.
She is survived by her husband, Stan Hudson of Mineola; three sons, Dean Hudson and wife Teri of Quitman, Texas, David Hudson and wife Pama of Tyler, Texas and Danny Hudson and wife Jill of Georgetown, Texas; a daughter, Suzanna (Sana) Schneider and husband Jeff of Lago Vista, Texas; a brother Bill Dean and family of Mineola; a sister Neva Madsen and family of Mineola; ten grandchildren, Trevor, Tyler, Caitlyn, Kayla, Camerson, Ellie, Kynnedy, Lane, Zoe and Aiden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola with Bros. Ken Hudson and Mike Gentsch officiating.
