Virginia Ruth Wallis was born on August 24, 1933, to Rev. Charley C. and Nancy J. (McLeroy) Havens and went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 22, 2023. Ruth was a 1950 graduate of Winnsboro High School and 1951 graduated from Tyler Commercial College. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served as pianist. Mrs. Wallis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jesse C (Pete) Wallis; brother Wayne Havens; sister Lillian Hallman-McCollum and nieces, Rene', Brenda and Sheila Cofer and Sherry Hallman. Survivors include son Barry and Margaret Wallis of Tyler; Dee and Lily of California; and Mike Wallis of Winnsboro; grandchildren Jed and Kristy Bridges of Tatum; Kristofer Wallis of Winnsboro; and Kierney and Jackson Wallis of Mineola; great grandchildren Ethan and Lexie Ford of Tatum, Ty Bridges of Tatum; sister Mary Cofer and husband Junior of Winnsboro; brother Charles Havens of Panama. Visitation will be Sunday, March 26th at Beaty Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro. Officiating the service will be Bro. Tom Friday and her son Barry Wallis. Interment will be in Smyrna Cemetery in Winnsboro.
