Weldon Noble Greer

Mr. Weldon Noble Greer, of Mineola, passed away on July 17, 2020. Weldon was born on February 22, 1929 in Mineola. He was a lifelong resident of Mineola and a knowledgeable historian of Wood County. Many people sought him out to learn of the local history. He attended New Hope Baptist Church and Harvest Acres. Weldon served his country in the US Army and worked as a machinist for Union Pacific for 40 years before retiring in 1992. He loved his family, the area in which he was born, raised, worked and lived. Mr. Greer also enjoyed being outdoors and spending the day hunting. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents Welcome and Mary Greer; wife Mildred Nadine (Brown) Greer; sisters June Moss and Louise Perice. Mr. Greer is survived by son Roger Wiggins and his wife Shirley; daughter Martha Cornstubble and her husband Gene; niece Teresa Arney; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20th at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 21st at the New Hope Baptist Church, Bro. Fred Morrow officiating. Interment will follow at the Greer Hill Family Cemetery.
