Willard Roy Drake

Roy Drake, 80, made it home to be with the Lord on February 26th, 2023 at his home in Mineola.

Roy loved the Lord and his family passionately, and never met a stranger. A genuine and truly honorable man. He was known as Pawpaw to 24 grandkids, 27 great grands, and 1 great, great grand. He loved his church family and played the guitar in the praise team. When he was 6 years old he taught himself how to play the guitar and became an accomplished musician. He loved playing southern gospel music. Roy was a building contractor starting at the age of 15 and then opened Triple D Auto Sales with his 2 boys in the 1980's.

His biggest hobby was buying, selling & trading, and hitting the yard sales. He was an avid fisherman, mechanic, carpenter, and master tinkerer. Very independent, he made up his own rules and was never wrong. He would help anyone at anytime, and always had a shoulder you could cry on. Although we will miss him dearly, we know that he will be welcomed with open arms by his parent, DeRoy & Opal Drake, his son, Woody Drake, and most of all, our Savior.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Virginia Drake of Mineola; son, Donnie Drake and wife Lisa; daughters, Christi Drake, Stephanie Drake, and Christina Drake; stepdaughters, Reginda Dorman and husband Tommy, and Cindy Irby and husband Rusty; stepson, Darren Fishback and wife Laura; grandkids, Shelly Adley, Jennifer Ashworth, Brittany Melton, Roy Drake, Brandy Drake, Chrystal Grubaugh, Donnie Lee Drake Jr., Derrick Drake, Ashley Drake, Aleigh Drake, Lauren Gaskill, Tyler Huff, Casey Hillhouse, Tyler Killingsworth, Bryce Pritchett, Alyssa Clements, Cody Fishback, Madison Fishback, Sydney Fishback, Cami Fishback, Lexie Carter, Coleman Irby, and Trent Dorman.
