Willert James Menke

Willert James Menke passed away January 15, 2014 in Plano, Texas from pneumonia. He was born in Shiner, Texas on August 11, 1924. He attended elementary school at Bungy and graduated from Shiner High School in 1942. He served in the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific from 1943 – 1946. He worked for Hughes Tool Company in Houston for 44 years before retiring in 1986 and relocating to Mt. Pleasant, Texas and resided there until 2010. At that time he was forced to relocate to the Dallas area due to health reasons. He was preceded in death by Marjoria Menke his wife of 63 years, a grandson Lee Green, his parents Henry and Selma Menke, brother Monroe Menke, sisters Marie Bohmann and Edell Mascheck. He is survived by his children Linda Green and her husband Paul and Larry Menke and his wife Karen, 3 grandchildren James Menke, Richard Menke and Tammy Abney and 4 great grandchildren and one sister, Ruby Baker. Funeral service will be at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM. He will be buried at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola, Texas.
