Don was born January 9, 1942 in Winnsboro to the late William Burie " Toe" Busby and Edna Ruth Harris Busby.
Don attended Winnsboro High school. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy his senior year. While in the Navy Don was stationed in San Diego. He met and married Linda Joyce Rogers Busby in San Francisco on November 12, 1960.
Don and Joyce moved back to Winnsboro to start their family.
Over the years Mr. Busby was known for being excellent custom home builder for 28 years. He was also known for dirt track racing. Don won numerous races at Quitman, Mineola, Tyler, Mt. Selman, Paris, Greenville and Lake Cypress Speedways. He loved coaching baseball in the summers and watching his grandkids in their activities.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Joyce of 39 years, a sister Judy McDonald and a nephew Johnny Zimmerman.
Don is survived by his daughter Jeannie Ruth Gallander and husband Michael. Son William David Busby and wife Deidra. Sister Bobbie Wilson and husband Spencer. Grandchildren, Chad Busby, Erica Phillips, Seth Busby, Kendall Morris and Jace Busby. A great grand daughter Lily Caldwell. Mr. Busby is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Most important of all Don is survived by his faithful Old yellow dog Old Yeller. !!!
