William Phillip "Phil" Cannedy, 88, of Tyler, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2026, following a brief illness. Born October 23, 1937, in Iowa Park, Texas, he was the son of George and Maurine Cannedy. Phil spent his childhood in Wichita Falls before serving proudly in Korea as a member the United States Army following the Armistice.

After leaving Wichita Falls, Phil moved to the Mineola-Hawkins area, where he managed the family farm and became well known for cultivating beautiful roses. Following his second retirement, he settled in Tyler and devoted the past decade to volunteering at Christus Louis & Peaches Owen Heart Hospital. For more than ten years, Phil was a familiar, welcoming face at the hospital's help desk-offering directions, encouragement, and a warm smile to everyone who walked through the door. Phil amassed 19,500 volunteer hours during his time at the hospital. His joy came from helping others, a calling shaped by a strong Christian faith he embraced 75 years ago. Staff, patients, and visitors alike knew him for his kindness, humility, and the genuine personal connections he created each day.

Phil was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sherry Philene Cole; his sister, Marjorie Tyson; and his brother, Ken Cannedy.

He is survived by a large and loving family:
Daughter Mary Cannedy‑Clarke (Ben); Grandson Aaron Clarke;
Great‑grandchildren Jahnvi and Chayan Clarke.
Daughter Terry Sorenson (Art);
Grandsons Christian Stone (Samantha), Skylor Stone, and Cade Stone (Christy); Great‑grandchildren Avery and Lucas Stone, Zain Stone, and Hayden, Kyle, and Ryan Stone.
 Son‑in‑law Ed Cole and his wife Dorene; Grandchildren Chris Cole (Brooke), Scott Phillip Cole, Caitlyn Skillings (York), Cameron Cole (Hattie), and Cassidy Fulmer (Jesse); Great‑grandchildren Addy, Sienna, and Chloe Cole, and Sawyer and Carson Skillings.

Phil is also survived by his sisters Mary Ann Huff and Greta Cannedy Gustafson, both of Tyler, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished his humor and wit.

Phil lived a good Christian life, grounded in service, humility, and devotion to family. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his willingness to help anyone in need, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life.
