William Archie Highfield

William “Bill” Archie Highfield passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Baylor, Scott and White Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas from Covid-19. He was born to Archie Highfield and Jean Minter Highfield on January 20, 1951, in Ft. Worth, Texas. William graduated from Como-Pickton High School Class of 1969. Following graduation he attended East Texas State College in Commerce, Texas and Baylor School of Radiology in Dallas, Texas. After college he spent many years in sales in various industries, finally retiring from sales at Freeman Buick GMC of Grapevine. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Josh, and beloved Bassett Hounds Sadie and Bella. William was survived by, Gretchen, his wife of over 28 years. In addition to his wife, he was also survived by two sisters and a brother, Mary Ann Highfield Colburn of Pine Forest, Texas, Susan Lane Sawyer and husband John of Texarkana, Texas, and Rex Minter Highfield and wife Beth of Pine Forest, Texas. Also surviving are his stepdaughter, Stacey Bolling and husband James of Poolville, Texas and their children, Zakkary and wife Brittany of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jaci of Springhill, Arkansas, Lexee of Stephenville, Texas, and Rylie Rae of Poolville, Texas, grandson Connor of Lubbock, Texas, and his mother Nicole Gordon and husband Kenneth of Orange Beach, Alabama and his children Colby of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Emily of Magnolia, Arkansas. There are also 3 great grandchildren Tamen, Nixon, and Lincoln. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, September 24th at 1:00 p.m. at Pine Forest Methodist Church in Pine Forest, Texas with Pastor Doug Fox officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made in Bill’s honor to North Texas Bassett Hound Rescue (bassettrescuedfw.org) to celebrate his life in a very special way.
