William Alonso Villalobos Chiriboga

William Alonso Villalobos Chiriboga, known to everyone as Will, died on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in a motor vehicle accident near Houston, Texas. He was 31 years old.

Will was born in Lima, Peru, on January 11, 1995. He was raised in Chiclayo, where he attended Colegio San Agustín. He was an athlete from the start and rarely without a crowd of friends around him. In the early 2000s he came to the United States with his mother, Elena, and his older brother, Alex, joining their grandmother in Carrollton, Texas. Not long after, when Elena married Galen Birdsong, the family settled in Winnsboro.

To Will, Winnsboro was home. He went through the school district from elementary school to Winnsboro High School, ran track and field, and played football for the Red Raiders in the number 25 jersey. He was social in a way that pulled other people along with him, and he was generous with his friends and his family without ever being asked. He graduated in 2014.

Will then entered the Honors Program at Northeast Texas Community College on a full scholarship, where he became the program's unofficial videographer, filming and editing pieces for NTCC events and for Winnsboro High School. He graduated in 2016 and went on to Texas A&M University, where he studied Petroleum Engineering and served as an officer of the student chapter of the International Association of Drilling Contractors, organizing events that gave his classmates a way into the industry. He earned his degree in May 2022, a proud moment that was the result of years of hard work and determination.

Texas A&M is also where he met Gabriela "Gabby" Granados, marking an important chapter in his personal life. Their relationship continued to grow, and on November 19, 2021, together they welcomed their greatest joy; their son, Liam Oliver Villalobos. After graduation, Will took a job in Houston and moved there with Gabby and Liam. He was devoted to his work, but Liam was the subject he always came back to, and he enjoyed taking his son to the park and anywhere else worth going to get a smile out of him. He and Gabby worked together to give Liam a good and happy upbringing.

Will kept up with family and friends in both the United States and Peru, traveling to see them when he could. Back home in Winnsboro he was a steady presence for his younger sister, Isabella, spending hours helping her with school during the pandemic years, and he loved being a fun uncle to his brother's son, Daniel Luis Villalobos, often sending him gifts that Daniel loved and that kept his parents on their toes.

He is survived by his son, Liam Oliver Villalobos; Liam's mother, Gabriela "Gabby" Granados; his mother, Elena Birdsong; his father, Lucho Villalobos; his brother, Alexander Villalobos, and sister-in-law, Sarah Westergaard; his nephew, Daniel Luis Villalobos; his stepfather, Galen Dane Birdsong; his stepmother, Ada Mariela Zapata Carnaque; his sister, Isabella Destiny Birdsong; his stepbrother John Kevin Birdsong and his stepsister Robin Danielle Birdsong, and their spouses and children; as well as a large extended family in Peru and in the United States.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Texas. A funeral service will follow on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Beaty Funeral Home, with interment at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro.
