William Henry Whitley

Mr. William Henry Whitley went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the age of 83. He was born on December 27, 1924 to the late Stephen B. Whitley and Willie Marie Majors Whitley. Mr. Whitley served in the U.S. Naval Air Corps during WWII and retired from the Pilgrim Industries after twenty-seven years as a Service Manager. He married the former Linda Hoover on April 26, 1963. Mr. Whitley was a former member of the Rodeo Association, Trail Riders Association, Autumn Trails Board and the Lions Club. He was presently a member of the Wood County Crime Stoppers; served as President of the Smyrna Cemetery Board and as Chaplain of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dormer Turner and by two sisters, Teddie Young and Charlene Brannon. Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Mrs. Linda Whitley of Winnsboro; sons, David Mike and Melissa Dawn Whitley of Winnsboro and Stephen Henry Whitley of Dallas; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Carol and Tommy Teague of Winnsboro and Melissa Ann and Jay Lenhardt of Frisco; sister, Madeline Smith of Pittsburg; four grandchildren, Brandon Brewer, Whitley Teague, Ryan Lenhardt and Jack Lenhardt; two great grandchildren, Robert Travis Brewer and Sarah Elizabeth Brewer.
