Winnie Irene Rushing

Winnie "Irene" Rushing of Winnsboro, Texas, was a caring wife, mother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on June 27, 2023, at the age of 93.

She was born to John Thomas and Sallie Mae Sue on June 23, 1930. Irene was married to her late husband, Carlton Rushing, on December 23, 1950. Together they had 4 children: Carol, Dennis, Roye, and Patrick.

Irene loved the Lord. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and volunteered for numerous groups that were dedicated to serving community members in need. Dennis said of his mom, "She was a prayer warrior, and my brothers and I gave her plenty to pray about. I'm sure she is ready and willing to take on any assignment the Lord has planned for her."

Irene was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was the last of her immediate family to leave this world. She was preceeded in death by her 4 brothers: Henry "Buddy", Oscar, Floyd, and Johnny Bill Sue; her two sisters, Verna Sewell and Christine Noble; and one of her grandsons, Alex Rushing, who sadly passed away too young.

Irene is survived by her children: Dennis and wife, Patricia Rushing of Waco, TX; Roye and wife, Jana Rushing of San Marcos, TX; Patrick Rushing of San Marcos, TX; and Carol Rushing of Athens, TX. Irene had 5 grandchildren: Lindsey Rushing of Lafayette, CO; Tommy Rushing, Rebecca Rushing, and Morgan Rushing of San Marcos, TX; and Miranda and husband, Jared Attanasio, and their 2 children Olivia and Liam of North Dakota.
