W.L. "Blue" Strange

November 10, 1932 — January 29, 2025

W. L. “Blue” Strange, 92, originally from Mineola Texas, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025 in Longview Texas. Born on November 10, 1932, in Alba, Texas, he was the son of John Dee Strange and Polly Miller Strange. Blue grew up in Mineola and proudly served in the United States Army, a testament to his commitment to his country.

Blue was known for his skill and expertise as a millwright, dedicating many years to his work. He was also a faithful member of Freedom Baptist Church. In addition to his professional and spiritual life, Blue had many personal passions. He was an avid photographer, capturing the world through his 35mm camera with an eye for beauty. A skilled cook, he delighted in preparing meals for his family and friends. Blue was also a Star Trek fan and the beloved Bob Ross show, which he enjoyed in his leisure time. Above all, he was a devoted caregiver to his wife, Pat Strange, until her passing.

Blue’s memory lives on through his children, Jeffry Blake Strange and wife Melinda of Longview Texas, and Rebecca Strange of Diana Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Dawn Mullings and husband Tim of Tyler Texas, Dave Stout and wife Jackie of Newark Ohio, Dena Scurlock and husband Wil of White Oak Texas, and Luke Strange of Fort Collins Colorado. Additionally, Blue leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren with another on the way, all of whom brought him great joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Polly Strange; his wife, Pat Strange; and his brothers, JD, Charles, and Jimmy Strange. Blue will be remembered for his strength, his kind heart, and his loving presence in the lives of those who knew him.

In his final years, Blue found comfort in his beloved cat, T.C., pup Bee, and cherished the moments spent with family.

While he may no longer be with us, his legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace
