Zerita La Jean Tubbs

Zerita La Jean Tubbs, age 84, of Winnsboro, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at her home. She was born on January 23, 1939 in Winnsboro to the late William "Bill" Goolsby and Velma Bullard Goolsby. Zerita was a retired Office Manager, 1957 graduate of Winnsboro High School and attended Hepsibah Baptist Church. She was a voracious reader and was an excellent pianist. Mrs. Tubbs was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Velma Goolsby; daughter, Betsy Tubbs; and sister Merlene Moss. Survivors include her husband, Robert Tubbs of Winnsboro; son, Michael Tubbs of Tulsa; daughter, Christie Tubbs of Winnsboro; sister, Theresa Shrader of California; one aunt, one uncle, and lifelong friend Gaylia Jordan. Zerita and her husband Robert began one of the very first legal video companies in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area in the early 1980's. They continued owning and operating that business until retiring to the farm in Winnsboro in 2013. She loved jumping on the tractor and working the land. It gave her great joy to cut and bale hay on the 100 acre farm near the home in which she grew up. Zerita and Robert raised beef cattle. At times they took care of 25 to 50 head of cattle. She was a worker until the end, never letting dust settle on her shoes. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Bro. Ronny Spence conducting. Zerita will be buried in Smyrna Cemetery, however, there will be no graveside service.
